Windsor Essex Athletics Club(WEAC) - formerly known as the University of Windsor Athletics Club (UWAC). WEAC provides athletes with highly experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff, excellent facilities and a healthy training environment. Our mission is to create a safe, fun and positive environment to implement long term athletic development and healthy lifestyle for our club members. We believe in fair play and sportsmanship between our athletes and our competitors while maintaining a high level of competition.

For the past two decades the club has been providing an opportunity for collegiate and post collegiate athletes to compete in athletics all year around. WEAC has had the pleasure of developing some of the best athletes in the Windsor Essex Region on the Provincial, National and International stage in multiple event disciplines.

In 2013 a total of nine athletes represented the club at the Canadian Senior National Championships with four top six placings. Noelle Montcalm highlighted the results winning the gold medal in the Women’s 400m Hurdles and qualifying for the IAAF World Championships. Noelle also represented Canada and UWAC at the FISU games and Francophone Games. Virginia McLaughlin also represented Canada on the International stage, competing at the IPC (International Paralympic Championships) in Lyon, France. Virginia earned two silver medals at the Championships in the Ambulatory T-35 100m and 200m.

In November of 2013 UWAC opened its doors to non-collegiate athletes. Athletes attending High School/Elementary School in the Windsor Essex Region were invited to train for the Athletics Ontario Cross Country Championships in Belvoir, Ontario. There was immediate success with 14 athletes joining and competing for our Club. The expansion was a natural next step for the Club, sharing a successful model that has worked well for collegiate athletes and now continues to work for developing top level junior athletes.
